Not a good omen

So we went scuba diving while in Maui.  Let’s talk about how that went down.

We walk into the shop and we are met by Donny and Marybeth (husband and wife).  Donny would be our “instructor” and Marybeth was working on becoming a “dive master.”  They were super helpful and making us feel right at home.

Then I saw it.

Marybeth only had 1 leg!  She had a fake leg that was well colored to match her tan.  As a result, I didn’t notice right away.

And what’s the first thing you think of when you see a scuba instructor with 1 leg.  SHARK!!!

I’m not going to say anything….but I’m starting to get a little worried.  Donny and Marybeth inform us that we will need to meet them at a nearby beach and that we can follow them.  So we get in the car and the first thing we all say to each other is….”did you see her leg?”  “think it was a shark?”

Here’s how I reasoned through it and what kept me from chickening out:

1.  If she did get bitten by a shark, kudos to her for getting back on that boat.

2.  What are the chances of lightening striking twice.  If Marybeth was eaten once, slim chance she’d be eaten again.  I’m diving with her!

Come to find out the missing leg had nothing to do with a shark encounter.  But still, pretty funny.
