Lagunitas

We spent this past Saturday celebrating our friends’ birthday at Lagunitas in Petaluma.  Even for this non-beer-drinking-gal, it was still a ton of fun and I recommend it if you’re ever in the area.

We showed up around 1PM.  A terrible time to show up, especially on St. Patrick’s Day weekend.  The place was packed and they don’t really take reservations.  So we were left to be those people that hovered.  That is, until someone in our party recognized someone at a table.  She was part of a beer tour.  They were in the 50+ crowd and taking the church bus.  How awesome is that?  They promised us their seats, so we were set!

The boys didn’t know what to try, so they opted for the 16 item tasting menu.  Yes, 16.  The first shot only has 12.  They had already started moving the tastes from the tray to the table before I could grab my camera!

IMG_7960-2They split them into 2 groups of 8 and put them on these cute little laminated sheets that told them which beer was which.  There all sorts of faces.  Ranging from “OMG that’s so good” (I’m looking at you uncle Simon) and “no bueno.”

The pulled pork nachos were delicious (And better than the pulled pork sliders ironically).  I heard the artichoke sandwich was also amazing.  Did I mention we sat outside and got free pretzels and peanuts?  Then a band showed up around 3PM.  We had high hopes for the band.  But they were loud.  And the over 30 crowd wasn’t having it.  Being 29, I was totally into it (not really, I just like to give the 30 and overs a tough time).  The music was fun, for a bit, but then we just wanted them to quiet down so we could continue to chat.  But kids and grownups were dancing and it was definitely a fun spot.

So if you’re ever in Petaluma, stop by!

We think that there was a way to reserve a table.  We didn’t look into it, but there were definitely people with reserved tables.  They say no-reservations, but maybe if you promise to show up with 10 very thirsty people in your party, they’ll make an exception.  With 3 DDs and a baby, we weren’t exactly the partying crew.  But a good time for sure.  And we finished the night with some tasty (and greasy) burgers, fries, and milkshakes at a local diner.  Not a bad way to spend a Saturday and thankful for such good friends here in CA!
