My name is Bryn

really like my name.  It’s unique.  The only other Bryn that I’ve met was a dude – he’d only met Bryns that were girls.

But having a name that is (often) difficult for people to spell and pronounce has caused some confusion.

For example, we go to Starbucks and they’ve taken to writing your name on the cup.  So they ask for your name.  It’s always fun to see how they spell it.  Every once in awhile they ask how to spell my name.  So I tell them – B-R-Y-N.  Then the barista calls out BryAN when my drink is ready.  Ugh.  Just spell it the way it sounds.  It’ll be easier for everyone.

My grandma has gotten this figured out.  When she makes a reservation at a restaurant or needs to give her name for something, she uses Alice.  Everyone knows how to pronounce and spell it (thanks Wonderland).  Did I mention her name is Yone.

Go Grandma!

People can’t spell Wayne, my dad’s name, either. He goes by “Joe” in restaurants.
